Ouray's Portrait of a Learner was developed in collaboration with the community. The administration met with community groups, staff, and students to develop key characteristics that we want to develop in all learners. The uniqueness of Ouray School with a preschool and a high school under one roof led us to develop learner qualities for all ages, not just graduates.
Mount Abrams is an iconic mountain at the end of the Uncompahgre Valley. Its green alpine tundra of summer and white alpine chutes in winter make Abrams the perfect backdrop for the school and our Portrait of a Learner. The compass rose emboldened with the Trojan head make these our guiding principles for teaching and learning.
