The Ouray School Board and the Parents and Teachers Together (PATT) group have had a common interest to find a way to support the continuation of free meals for Ouray students. In partnership, the two groups have found a way to make this possible for the breakfast program for the 2022-23 school year. Students will still have to purchase lunches at school, when desired, and all meals will be tracked.
Ouray School prides itself in having a strong, high quality food service program. The program limits packaged food products and produces meals from scratch. The free meal program of the past two years has enabled all students to access a healthy, calorie rich start to the school day that does not discriminate on socioeconomic status.
This fall, Colorado voters will have the opportunity to vote for an initiative that would make lunch programs free to schools across the state. Stay tuned for more information about these efforts.
All means all for this year's free breakfast program supported by Ouray School District R-1.
