Dear Cross Country Student-Athletes and their Families,
We are excited to share with the school communities of Ouray, Ridgway, and Silverton that we have a new cooperative plan to preserve our combined tri-district middle school and high school cross country programs while still meeting the needs of each district. For the 2022-23 academic school year, Ouray, Ridgway, and Silverton will continue to compete as a single entity when they attend joint cross country meets. The schools will practice independently at their home sites with their own school coaches but will also meet weekly at an off-site practice location for the entire team to build camaraderie and collaboration between coaches and athletes. This schedule will maintain our competitive alliance. Finally, for consistency, each school's coaches will be responsible for certain tasks for the entire cooperative team when at competitive events.
Thank you for your patience and understanding through this discussion and planning process. Our schools are fortunate to have such passionate, caring, and positive coaches leading our programs. We look forward to their continued success in this alliance.
