Part 2: Deadline to Meet School Vaccination Requirements

In part two of our series on required school vaccinations, Ouray School is sharing communication methods and required deadlines for student vaccinations.

Communication
Letters to individual families regarding missing vaccinations will be sent via mail on Monday, December 13, 2021. These letters cover the following.
  • Required vaccinations by age/grade level;
  • A document indicating which vaccination(s) that school records indicate are missing;
  • Resources for getting vaccines in Ouray County; and
  • Information about medical and non-medical exemptions.
Deadlines
Ouray School will require all students to meet vaccination requirements by January 24, 2022. Per school district policy, students not in compliance with state requirements will be prohibited from attending school until they meet the requirement.

There are several ways to meet these requirements.
  • Provide Evidence. If you have documentation of the required immunizations, please submit copies of immunization records to the school before the deadline.
  • Get Vaccinated. If your student does not have the required immunizations, please utilize your family primary care provider or Ouray County Public Health to administer and provide documentation. A written plan to meet the vaccination requirements may also be submitted by the deadline.
  • Exemption. Colorado law has changed and requires additional documentation for exemptions. If you choose to not have your student vaccinated, please complete one of the methods for medical or nonmedical exemption required by the state.
Please see the school's website, below, for more information on immunization information. For questions or comments, please contact the school nurse or a school administrator.
