Free Meal Programs for 2021-22

The federal government has expanded the support for free school meals for students through the 2021-22 school year. Ouray School uses the extra dollars to serve more nutritious breakfasts, to cover all food costs, and to cover the cost of additional staff to prepare meals.

Overview of the Ouray School meals program.
  • Breakfast - Elementary and middle school students will recieve breakfast in their first period classes. High school students may pick up a breakfast before going to first period.
  • Lunch - Ouray School will utilize the cafeteria for all lunches for the 2021-22 school year. K-2 will eat together before going to recess. Grades 3 and 4 will have recess and then eat lunch. Middle school will eat in 5/6 and  7/8 cohorts, with opposite lunch/recess. High school students (all grades) will have open campus lunch.
The school has expanded outdoor seating, included the covered patio outside of the art room, to support larger lunch sizes this year.
