KURA Radio Community Program Coordinator
Description
The KURA Program Coordinator is responsible for the development and management of the community portion of the radio station. The role seeks to improve community participation and service of the radio station during non-school hours through outreach, vision and program development, volunteer coordination, and funding development.
Expected Duties
Conduct community outreach to understand the current needs for KURA Community Radio
Develop a Vision for KURA Community Radio aligned with community needs
Develop on-air programming, including cultivating music libraries, for non-school hours
Coordinate volunteer hosts including training
Expand underwriting development
Identify and apply for qualifying grants and sponsorships
Craft an annual budget
Develop an annual fundraising event
Benchmark Objectives
The position will seek to meet initial six-month benchmarks related to making the program coordinator position self-sustaining.
*Produce an outreach analysis report
*Develop a vision statement and strategic plan
*Curate and test a core music library of 2000+ songs
*Identify and train 1-2 volunteer hosts
*Identify additional grant opportunities with specified application timelines
*Develop a 12-month fundraising plan aligned with a budget
Required Skill Set
*Background in radio technology or strong history of technology acquisition
*Strong organization and communication skills
*Manage time independently
*Ability to work collaboratively with school staff
Qualifications
*Experience working with nonprofit organizations, marketing, budgeting, and/or strategic planning
*Pass a CBI background check
Terms of Employment and Compensation
The initial position establishes a six-month timeframe to achieve specific benchmarks related to making the program coordinator position a self-sustaining financial obligation moving forward. During this time, the coordinator is expected to work eight (8) hours per week on average and will be compensated $25 per hour for contracted work. Timesheets must be submitted to the superintendent by the first of each month for pay on the 10th of each month, or the most recent workday prior if the 10th falls on a weekend or holiday.
Evaluation
Oversight of the Program Coordinator will be managed by a KURA Community Radio Committee, an ad hoc board, composed of community members, a Ouray School District board member, and the school district superintendent. The Committee’s organization, powers, and duties will be approved by Ouray School District R-1 Board of Education.
